Perugina Due

So it is late January and time for another tour of Perugina in San Sisto to see the making of the Easter Eggs or Uova di Pasqua. We go this time with Marisol and her two kids Diego Matteo and Stefano. What a day. Marisol's hubby just left for Rome this morning to catch a flight to San Francisco. His flight was scheduled for 12 noon so it was early when he left assisi. BUT BU BUT. He was taking Air Canada. Rome to Montreal to SF. US visa no problem, but But BUT what about the transit visa in Canada? OOOPs. Carlos is Peruvian. Not EU or Italian.. OOOPs.

Then the day gets weirder. We drive past Santa Maria down below Assisi. The traffic is sorta heavy, but we pass through. There is a big crowd in front of the Basilica. Oh.. a funerale funeral.

We go to Perugina. The tour is buffed up this time a bit. The give away candy is much better. The reception is altered. Ahhh the Eggs are in production. Suby shows more interest in the candy than in the media presentation.

On the way back we pass through heavy traffic down in Santa Maria. Lots of people in Black. Must have been a big funeral. Who died????

Several months ago we heard a story of a wealthy family in Santa Maria. The father had built a good sized empire from prefabricating concrete building materials. He had a son who he had built a horse facility for him to operate. But this was not to be as the son was not interested and was angry and hostile at the father.

Today we find out that the funeral was for the son who had hung himself on Tuesday. How truly Shakesperian.

Ohhh. But wait there's more. On Wednesday we find that those sneaky Frenchmen over at Societe Generale have been playing funny tricks and crashed the world markets on Monday and Tuesday. Did the son have some trading losses he wasn't happy about?
